Inspiring Spaces: Lecture Theatre Refurbishment
Inspiring Spaces: Launching our £160,000 Lecture Theatre Refurbishment
We have announced plans to refurbish our Lecture Theatre as part of its ongoing commitment to providing high-quality learning environments for pupils.
The £160,000 project will be delivered in partnership with Friends for Life, the school’s foundation, alongside the PTA and the Old Scholars Association. The refurbishment will transform the existing Lecture Theatre into a modern, fully accessible, technology-enabled space serving pupils aged 3–18, as well as staff and community groups.
Opened in 1990 as part of the West Wing extension, the Lecture Theatre has hosted assemblies, performances, guest speakers and curriculum events for more than 35 years. However, heavy use has left the space with outdated seating, poor acoustics, obsolete audiovisual equipment and limited accessibility.
Planned improvements include new tiered seating for up to 100 people, enhanced accessibility, upgraded audiovisual systems, modern lighting and décor, and essential safety and compliance upgrades.
Principal Stephen Moore said the project reflects the school’s commitment to excellence in education and to strengthening connections across the school community.
“As our school continues to grow, it is vital that our facilities evolve to meet the needs of pupils, staff and visitors. This refurbishment will allow us to make full use of a space with great potential.”
We have grown by almost 100 pupils in the past five years and now educates more than 1,200 young people. The refurbished Lecture Theatre will support assemblies, classroom teaching, performances, extra-curricular activities such as debating and drama, and events involving visiting speakers and community groups.
Fundraising for the project is now underway, with opportunities including one-off donations, monthly giving and a “Name a Seat” initiative. UK taxpayers can also support the project through Gift Aid.
