Shaping spaces for future learning

The First Project

Lecture Theatre Refurbishment

Hero shape

The Inspiring Spaces campaign is about investing in the places where learning happens every day at Friends’ School Lisburn. As our school community continues to grow, we want to ensure our buildings support modern teaching, shared experiences and a strong sense of belonging for pupils of all ages.

Our first focus is the refurbishment of the Lecture Theatre, a space that has been central to school life for over 35 years. Used for assemblies, lectures, performances and guest speakers, it has hosted countless shared moments.

However, time and heavy use have left the space with outdated seating, poor acoustics, obsolete technology and limited accessibility. As a result, it no longer meets the needs of a growing school population.

Why This Matters

Over the last five years, pupil numbers have increased significantly, placing greater demand on shared learning spaces. Refurbishing the Lecture Theatre will allow us to transform an under-used room into a modern, flexible facility that can support teaching, co-curricular activities and community events.

The project will deliver:

  • accessible seating for up to 100 users
  • modern audio-visual equipment
  • improved acoustics, lighting and décor
  • a welcoming space for pupils, staff, visitors and the wider community

The Impact of Your Support

Your support will directly enhance pupils’ learning experiences, giving them a space to listen, present, perform and engage with new ideas in an environment that reflects the values of Friends’.

It will also strengthen connections between Old Scholars, current families and the wider Lisburn community.

Why We Need Your Help

Friends’ School has always been shaped by the generosity of its community. Projects such as the Legacy Trail and the 1774 Pavilion were made possible through shared support.

The refurbishment of the Lecture Theatre is the next step. Every donation, no matter the size, will help us reach our £160,000 goal and ensure this important space continues to serve pupils for years to come.
