Gala Concert Update

red line

The Music Department of Friends’ School Lisburn marked a very special milestone as the school celebrated its 250th birthday with a Gala Concert. The programme featured a wide range of performances, including movie themes from Gladiator and The Last of the Mohicans, highlights from Les Misérables, and a mix of pop, rock, Irish traditional, jazz, and the powerful Carmina Burana, offering something for every musical taste.

The Gala Concert, held at Belfast’s iconic Waterfront Hall on Friday, 21 March 2025, brought together current pupils and Old Scholars to celebrate Friends’ School Lisburn’s rich musical tradition. Performances were given by the wind band, jazz band, string ensemble, orchestra, folk group, and a number of smaller ensembles, including flutes, brass, and the school’s rock band. The junior, senior, boys’, and Prep choirs also took to the stage, with a special performance by the chamber choir of a newly composed piece by former pupil Aidan Maclean, now a final-year student at Oxford.
